Division of NOPD Police Districts used for reporting and response. Police Zones are further divided into subzones, also known as Reporting Districts.
Smallest level of jurisdiction by the New Orleans Police Department used for reporting and response. The reporting districts are also known as subzones which small portions of the larger police Zones.
Firearm-Free zones are defined as "an area inclusive of any school campus and within one-thousand feet of any such school campus, and within a school bus, wherein the possession of firearms is prohibited."
For more information, including definitions of schools and exceptions to prohibited zones, please refer to Louisiana Revised Statute § 14:95.6.
Revised Statute 40:981.3 establishes that Drug Free Zones are inclusive of any properties used for school purposes, drug treatment facilities, religious buildings, public housing authority property, child care centers or within two-thousand feet of any such properties. This statute further states that religious buildings, public housing authority property, and child day care center properties must post the area as a Drug Free Zone for them to be established. This map depicts the location of all school properties and drug treatment facilities and two-thousand foot buffers from each of these properties.

No motor truck, tractor or trailer whose combined weight of body and load exceeds five tons shall be permitted on any of the streets or portions of streets within the city other than those listed herein, except that travel to or from points of destination or origin not located on one of the streets or portions of streets designated herein shall be permissible via the shortest practicable route between such point of origin or destination and the nearest street or portion of street designated herein, subject to the restrictions in Section 154-1522.
These amendments to the route designation list will ensure a clear and accurate list and map of New Orleans' truck routes, serving as a basis for the City's efforts around route signage, education and awareness, and enforcement, all aimed at improving compliance of operation of trucks and oversize vehicles on our roads.
This ordinance was adopted by the Council on September 17, 2020.
